Piano lessons at Axel Klaar

The piano lessons are offered in Randwyck in Maastricht, located near Randwyck Station and the Academic Hospital of Maastricht. It's also possible to give the lessons on site. Each Friday I teach piano in Stolberg, Germany, near Aachen. The lessons are held privately for all ages and all levels and can therefore be completely adapted to the student's level. There are no age limits to my lessons, but they are recommended for students age 6 and up. As a piano teacher I give lessons in Dutch, German or English.

The main thing is to have fun in playing the piano. The musical wishes and needs of the student are my starting point, because you want to learn what you think is beautiful and interesting. Therefore the teaching methods and materials are always chosen in consultation with the student. It's possible to jointly determine objectives and the associated testing moments.

If you want to learn how to play a particular composition, you must first learn to read what is written: the right notes and the right rhythm. This is the starting point to learn to read the musical story behind the notes. Therefore I will always spend attention to the correct interpretation of the notes. Being able to read sheet music is also the base to understand the theory of music.

Another important part of the lesson is to develop harmonic hearing. From the score, we want to make a sound conception. We need the proper piano technique to create the appropriate tone. It's therefore an important part of the lesson to be conscious of movement, not just to find the best fingering.
