Piano lessons at Axel Klaar
for kids and adults
As a piano teacher I am a member of the EPTA (European Piano Teachers Association). I think it's important to continually develop myself professionally. I have a degree from the Maastricht Conservatory. Over the years, I have extensive experience in teaching piano to Dutch-, German- and English-speaking students.
My love for the piano began when I lived in London as a six-year-old. I tried to play melodies by myself accompanied by my left hand. Back in the Netherlands I got my first piano. I didn't feel like taking lessons at first, because I didn't fancy a career as a pianist. But fortunately, with a little pressure from my parents I decided to take piano lessons.
I studied mathematics and physics at the University of Leiden. It felt like the right choice at the time, because science subjects were my strong suit. But gradually I found out that this wasn't my thing after all. It lacked creativity. I stopped my studies and went to live in Aachen. There I found out that I really enjoyed teaching piano. I wanted to be a qualified piano teacher. I played for the conservatory in Maastricht to be a classical music teacher. Here I found my calling.
I think my biggest strength is that I can easily cope with different kinds of people. During my studies, I enjoyed playing in various chamber music ensembles. I began teaching as an independent contractor at Muzikschule Merz in Stolberg.
